Choosing an opener for a Carleton Place garage
Many new-build owners swap the builder unit for a smart belt drive. Carleton Place has older homes along the Mississippi River and fast-growing subdivisions on its edges.
Opener brands we supply and install
- LiftMaster: LiftMaster openers are built for heavy daily use; their wall-mount units free up the ceiling entirely.
- Craftsman: Craftsman offers sturdy chain-drive and smart-capable belt-drive models.
- MasterCraft: MasterCraft is a dependable, budget-conscious option that suits detached garages and rentals.
- Chamberlain: Chamberlain is the same family as LiftMaster, with smart features such as myQ and integrated lights.
Chain, belt or smart?
| Opener type | Best for | Installed price |
|---|---|---|
| Chain-drive | Detached garages, workshops, budget installs | $700–$750 |
| Belt-drive (quiet) | Rooms above or beside the garage | $750–$850 |
| Smart Wi-Fi (myQ) | Phone control, delivery and away alerts | $850–$950 |
Every new opener is $650–$950 installed depending on model, with a written price before we start. Wall-mount (jackshaft) units are available for high or cluttered ceilings, and battery backup keeps the door working during power outages.
Our installation steps
- Remove and dispose of the old opener.
- Mount the new unit and rail to solid ceiling framing, or the wall for a jackshaft.
- Install and align safety sensors and the wall control.
- Set travel limits and closing force for your door.
- Program remotes, keypad and the myQ app.
- Test auto-reverse and the manual release with you.
Installation usually takes 1 to 2 hours and carries our 3-year parts and labour warranty. Seniors and veterans get 5% off.
