What your opener is telling you
- Keypad stopped responding: usually a reset and reprogramming, sometimes a new keypad.
- Grinding from the rail: dry or worn trolley, or a chain rubbing the rail; we adjust and lubricate.
- Door touches the floor, then reverses: the close travel limit or the down-force setting is off; we recalibrate both.
- Wall control lights up but does nothing: failed wall button or broken low-voltage wiring.
- Chain slapping or belt slipping: loose chain or belt tension; we re-tension and inspect the sprocket.
- Remote dead but the wall button works: a remote that needs reprogramming, a weak battery or a failing radio receiver.
If the door feels heavy by hand, the opener is not the root problem. See spring repair in Bells Corners or cable repair in Bells Corners.
Why openers fail in Bells Corners
Old openers with exposed chain rails and outdated wall consoles are common, and we often replace gears or logic boards on units well past their prime. Lynwood Village, Arbeatha Park and Westcliffe Estates are largely 1960s and 1970s homes with single and double attached garages.
Opener repairs we do in Bells Corners
- Stripped gear and sprocket replacement: New drive gear and sprocket kit for chain and belt units, then a full limit and force reset.
- Chain and belt tension: Set to spec to stop slapping, slipping and premature sprocket wear.
- Safety sensor alignment and rewiring: Brackets straightened, lenses aligned and damaged wires replaced.
- Remote, keypad and car reprogramming: New remotes, keypads and built-in car buttons paired to your opener.
- Logic board replacement: For units with surge or moisture damage when the motor itself is healthy.
- Force and travel limit adjustment: Recalibrated so the door seats firmly on the floor and reverses safely on contact.
We repair LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie and Craftsman openers. If a repair is not worth it, we say so and quote a replacement on our opener installation page for Bells Corners.
