Common opener faults we fix in Carp
- Door stops partway and the light flashes: safety sensors out of alignment, dirty lenses or a damaged sensor wire; we realign, clean or rewire them.
- Opener runs, then quits halfway up: force setting too low for the door, or a door out of balance that the opener is fighting.
- Remote dead but the wall button works: a remote that needs reprogramming, a weak battery or a failing radio receiver.
- Motor hums but the door stays put: almost always a stripped drive gear or worn sprocket inside the head unit, which we replace with a new gear kit.
- Wall control lights up but does nothing: failed wall button or broken low-voltage wiring.
- Chain slapping or belt slipping: loose chain or belt tension; we re-tension and inspect the sprocket.
If the door feels heavy by hand, the opener is not the root problem. See spring repair in Carp or cable repair in Carp.
Why openers fail in Carp
Carp Village and West Carleton combine a rural village core with acreage homes and large detached shops. Detached workshops with tall doors and long wire runs bring sensor, wall control and gear repairs, and rural outages bring surge damage.
Opener repairs we do in Carp
- Safety sensor alignment and rewiring: Brackets straightened, lenses aligned and damaged wires replaced.
- Stripped gear and sprocket replacement: New drive gear and sprocket kit for chain and belt units, then a full limit and force reset.
- Chain and belt tension: Set to spec to stop slapping, slipping and premature sprocket wear.
- Force and travel limit adjustment: Recalibrated so the door seats firmly on the floor and reverses safely on contact.
- Remote, keypad and car reprogramming: New remotes, keypads and built-in car buttons paired to your opener.
- Logic board replacement: For units with surge or moisture damage when the motor itself is healthy.
We repair LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie and Craftsman openers. If a repair is not worth it, we say so and quote a replacement on our opener installation page for Carp.
